We may have talked ourselves into a corner here… Right, under-promise, under-deliver!
In the name of Total Local Domination (TM), Phoenix Games proudly presents our first ever Phoenix Fest, on the 28th and 29th of September 2024, to delight, entertain and amaze the child in all of us! We’ll get briefly into it here, and do our best to update you as we move along the process, but in a nutshell, Phoenix Fest is a two day in-store event weekend that will focus on a few key elements of our hobby that sometimes get left by the wayside at lil ol’ Phoenix Games! These include:
The Golden Phoenix Painting Competition. Despite having a number of really rather talented painters in our community, this will mark the first formalised painting competition in store for many a year (possibly ever)! It’s free to enter, though if you wish to support us, any Ko-fi donations would be most welcome (as we discuss in detail here https://phoenixgames.co.uk/ko-fi-the-ends-justify-the-beans/). The categories for the competition are the ever popular – Single Miniature, Squad/Unit and Large Monster/Vehicle, and beyond that incredibly vague guideline, knock yourselves out! To enter, just drop your minis in to us in the days and weeks leading up to the weekend, where we’ll keep them in one of our handy storage tubs (that you too could rent out here https://phoenixgames.co.uk/in-store-services-and-changes/) record your various leavings, and dutifully display them on competition time! Then our beloved customers will come in, judge your hard work critically, choose and submit their votes, whereupon Brett and Steve will ignore them and choose their favourites! And to them, the greatest riches shall be bestowed! Trophies, immortalisation and fame awaits the first Golden Phoenix (name TBD).
SALE SALE SALE! Everyone loves a bit of discount, and we historically struggle to cut that RRP down, due to cripplingly high purchase prices and low margins, but we can make an exception once a year… It’s Phoenix Fest after all! For that weekend only, all in store purchases and even mail orders of £100 or more (BEFORE we even apply the discount) will be reduced by 20%! This will also include items that are already discounted! Madness! Also, while stocks last, anyone spending a tenner or more will receive a scaling lucky dip prize, based on how much they spend! Fun, right?
2024 Store Championship Final. We have had such an overwhelming interest in competitive 40k play this year, that we’re actually doing multiple tourneys with heats, all of which will culminate in determining two finalists, that, in an arena of death style finale, will do battle during Phoenix Fest to be crowned this years Store Champion, replete with trophies and the adulation of their peers! We hope to crown multiple systems’ Champs in subsequent years, but we really only came up with this idea a couple weeks ago, so….
Demo Games. Now, we aren’t really an “intro game” kinda place, generally… Not least of all because Brett and Steve are ex GW staff, and the ‘Nam flashbacks are vivid and real… but we do get contacted by a number of really very nice volunteers from companies wishing to show off their awesome stuff to an enthusiastic group, and we feel that Phoenix Fest is just the time to do it! If you’re such a person, we do still have a spot or two of space we can make, in exchange for tea and sandwiches, and if you’re interested in trying something new and jazzy, watch this space for updates as we get people locked down!
