The review and breakdown that was promised…. That was a crazy competition!
Again, we’d just like to start off by thanking everyone that participated, if you enjoyed your experience, and are of a mind, you can tip us via our KoFi page here, https://tr.ee/Xan3zfXHIc or in store if you’re more comfortable with that. Now, onto business….
After much deliberation, we elected Matt our Single Miniature Champion for his super pretty Imperial Fist, there are a number of honourable mentions listed later, but this was the one we kept coming back to.
Hotly contested between this and the awesome Triumph diorama shown later, James’ Eliminators pipped it with a combo of beautiful presentation and really lovely painting.
Beth’s Maus reigned supreme in our vehicle/monster catagory… We really struggled to choose a winner here, with any number of four or five worthy winners on display, but the ultra realistic finish on this super heavy swung it for us! Now, onto our honourable mentions, we apologise that we didn’t have time to photograph every entry, but we’re notoriously bad at taking pictures and our attention was everywhere…
Jordan’s Grievous.
Robin’s Cavalier Marshal.
Rob’s Witch Hunter.
Lightning Rob’s MODOK.
Ben’s White Dwarf.
Olivia’s adorable mushroom thing. (Honestly I have no idea what this is but it’s cute as all hell).
Jordan’s Night Lords.
Shane’s Triumph of St Katherine.
Beth’s Bolt Action.
Mikey D’s Silent King.
Jordan’s Night Lords Dready.
Liz’s Keeper of Secrets.
Johnty’s Epic Titan.
Lightning Rob’s Great Unclean One.
And while we didn’t technically have a place for them in our catagories (noted for next year) we couldn’y help but marvel at Jordan’s truly amazing busts that he brought in for us!
It’s pure wizardry!
I think it’s safe to say that this whole thing was a resounding success. We already have loads of feedback and ideas for Phoenix Fest ’25, and people went away with big plans for future painting competition entries! We know we’re a broken record, but thanks again to everyone for helping the weekend be so successful! We look forward to seeing what you lunatics can cook up for the next one!
